Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
1. Remove bandage within 2 hours of completion. Using your hands (NOT A WASH CLOTH), gently wash with warm water and antibacterial soap (i.e. DIAL ORIGINAL). Make sure hands are clean before washing your tattoo to prevent any skin irritation or infection. After washing, blot dry, with a clean towel.
2. After your tattoo has been cleaned, apply a small amount of A & D ointment or Aquaphor ointment to begin the healing process. Make sure to apply a thin coat, across the entire tattoo, 3-5. times daily. Remember, your skin needs to breath in order to fully heal. Too much ointment will clog pores and slow healing! DO NOT USE NEOSPORINE OR VASELINE!
3. DO NOT rub, scratch, or pick at any scabs that may form during healing. Doing so can cause serious skin irritation and possible infection! As well as damage, even loss of color in your tattoo.
4. DO NOT over soak your tattoo in water.
5. DO NOT go swimming, use Jacuzzis, tanning beds, or sun bathe while your tattoo is healing! Follow steps 3, 4, & 5 for the entire healing time. Tattoos take 2-3 weeks to FULLY heal! Be Careful.
6. Clothing can also cause a problem for the healing of a tattoo. Wear loose fitting clothes over and around your new tattoo till it is healed.
7. After your tattoo is healed, ALWAYS use sun block (SPF 45 or higher) in order to protect your tattoo from intense direct sunlight. Exposure to sunlight is the primary cause of tattoo fading. To keep your tattoo looking great for years to come, PROTECT IT!
